Make it dead-simple
Use breadcrumbs and other navigational aids to quickly back up
Limit typing
Things that are clickable should look clickable
Make use of iconography/graphics to support text
Consider color blindness
Consider the environment when making decisions about sound
Ensure rapid feedback to user interaction
Search is a last resort
Don't enable dragging unless it is required
Keep touchable items away from the edges and corners of the screen
Bigger is better
And just generally speaking, make your interface as single-purpose as possible
